Fireworks on the Fourth

I thought it was going to be a Fourth without fireworks.  It rained all day and all the local fireworks were held on the third.  In the almost three years that we have lived here this neighborhood comes alive in the summer and almost every weekend you are bound to hear someone letting off fireworks.  Marley and Brodie’s first memorable introduction to fireworks was last years display.  They both woke, upset by the “storm” they heard outside.  When I told them it was fireworks and carried them outside to see, it was magic.  They never stopped talking about it or asking when they would see them again.  I prepared them that Friday night may be the only night of fireworks.  Because this year the neighborhood has been quiet.  Very few if any fireworks.  Hardly anything on Memorial Day.  The economy’s downturn and a drop in fireworks consumption can’t be coincidence.

As I was trying to finish my laundry last night, with everyone all tucked into bed, the festivities began.  I held off until I was sure there was going to be more than just a couple fireworks set off.  As soon as I walked into Brodie’s room, his eyes lit up and he said, “Mama, there’s fireworks!”  I told him to get out of bed and come down with me.  I woke Marley and we all went outside.

Everyone must have been saving their fireworks stash for the big night.  It was wild.  One neighbor by the lake put on a better show than the village did on the third.  This time I got the tripod and captured a few shots I was happy with.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth!

awww, what a magical nite, I’m so excited for your boys! We caught some last pm………….PJ told me how excited it was to be there then, while waiting, he kept saying he wanted to go home. He doesn’t do well with loud noises but we were so far away, it was all good.

I’m guessing fireworks are legal in your state?

LOL, completely illegal Doreen. The police must turn a blind eye on the fourth.
